KLM ENGINEERING WINS EASYJET DEAL

A multimillion-pound deal to service part of Easyjet's fleet of aircraft has been landed by KLM
A multimillion-pound deal to service part of Easyjet's fleet of aircraft has been landed by a city engineering firm.
KLM Engineering, which employs 350 people at its base at Norwich International airport, will carry out maintenance checks on the low-cost carrier's fleet of Boeing 737-700s.
Eight Easyjet aircraft will be checked at the KLM facility between now and next April.
While the deal will not mean more jobs, KLM said it "creates a lot of stability" and puts the firm in line to be the "primary supplier for one of the largest low-fare carriers in Europe" in future.
Onno Pietersma, managing director for KLM UK Engineering, said: "Easyjet are undoubtedly one of the market leaders within European low-fares airlines who have a deserved reputation for delivering a low-cost product with care and convenience."
The Easyjet deal is the latest in a string of new contracts won by KLM Engineering in the wake of multimillion-pound investment of facilities in Norwich to cater for larger aircraft.
Sales manager Paul Conway said that the £30m-a-year firm had weathered the recession well and that there had been no job losses.
KLM UK Engineering a counts KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air France, TNT, British Airways, City Jet and BMI Baby among its clients.
